  • Yaakov (Jim) Sullivan (’65) worked this past fall semester at Reid Hall in Paris for the Office of the President of Columbia University. Columbia has a program for undergraduates to study French language and culture for the semester. Yaakov planned to return to the New York campus in January 2008.   • Robert Drea ('66) is on the faculty of the American Academy of Art.  An exhibition featuring his photographs and interviews by his wife, Stephanie, of survivors of gun violence, Wounded in America, was displayed for five months in 2006 at the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, TN.  Over 11,000 people viewed this installation. In fall 2008, the exhibition will travel to the California State University at Los Angeles.


  • Catherine A. (Moser) Mateer (’67) is a Professor in the Department of Psychology and the Associate Vice President for Academic Planning at the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada.  Katy, a registered clinical neuropsychologist, received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from UW-Madison, and her doctorate from the University of Western Ontario.  Prior to joining the University of Victoria in 1994, she served as the Director of Neuropsychological Services at the Centre for Cognitive Rehabilitation at Good Samaritan Hospital in Washington.  She is known internationally for her work in the clinical assessment and management of individuals with cognitive and emotional difficulties following brain injury.  She has co-authored three books and over 90 articles and book chapters.  In her role as AVP, she is responsible for developing and ensuring the quality of academic programs across the university.

  • Elly Pick (’67) is the new executive director of the Charles Allis/Villa Terrace Art Museums in Milwaukee. Elly holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from UW-Madison, and has CFRE (Certified Fundraising Executive) and APR (Accredited Public Relations Professional) designations. She also currently serves on the Board of Easter Seals of Wisconsin and is a member of the UW Women’s Philanthropy Council.

  • Lynn Ryan (’68) is a registered nurse in Arcata, CA.  She is also a volunteer environmental activist working to permanently protect wild areas as wilderness.  Lynn has led hundreds of hikes into unprotected wilderness, getting others interested and organized in the effort.  In October 2006, Lynn was involved in successfully adding 273,000 acres of public roadless land in Coastal Northern California to the Federal Wilderness Preservation System. 

  • Tom Gould (’68) ran into a former classmate a continent away while on a Feb. 2007 ski trip in Zurs, Austria.  Imagine Tom’s surprise when, upon sitting down to lunch at the Lorunser Hotel dining room, he saw Barb Klein Phillip (’68) and her husband Tom just across the way!  The Phillips live in London, where Tom is a corporate attorney.  Tom Gould makes his home in Shorewood, WI.


  • Katherine (Kate) Fischer (’69) is the Language and Literature Department Chair at Clarke College in Dubuque, IA. Kate is also a professional writer whose syndicated columns appear regularly in newspapers such as the Des Moines Register, Cedar Rapids Gazette, Telegraph Herald and others. Her book, Dreaming the Mississippi, has
    enjoyed a banner year during its first 10 months in stores and she has met up with several alums during her book tour. Kate writes that “Dominican is featured in the book in the chapter entitled, ‘Locking Through,’ which recalls DHS days with some of the more notorious students from the past.”
