The following letter was postmarked and mailed to all current DHS families on January 31, 2007. If you have additional questions or comments, please contact Michelle Rindt, Search Committee Chairperson and current DHS Board member, at 414.397.4962 or mlrindt@aol.com
Dear Dominican Family:
It is with great regret that I accept the resignation of DHS principal, Mr. Eamonn O’Keeffe, effective at the end of his contract on June 30, 2007. Eamonn has decided, after months of prayerful and thoughtful consideration, to pursue a doctorate degree and a career in higher education. Although we will miss Eamonn at Dominican, I am sure you join me in wishing him well in this next step of his career.
Dominican has greatly benefited from the 17 years that Eamonn has devoted to developing and educating our students as principal, dean of students and director of admissions. His devotion to our students and mission has been unwavering and we are thankful for his leadership.
I deeply appreciate that Eamonn has provided ample notice to allow for a seamless transition. Over the next few months, Dominican will conduct a thorough and comprehensive search for our new principal. Eamonn’s considerate approach truly reflects his professionalism and his care and concern for the well-being of Dominican High School.
A search committee is being formed, chaired by Michelle Rindt, a DHS board member and past parent. A well-defined process has been developed and will be followed in searching for a new principal. It is our goal to have the new principal named before the end of this school year.
In keeping with DHS process and industry best practices, the committee and I are asking all valued partners of Dominican – including parents, faculty, staff and alumni – to provide input regarding the most important and desired qualities and characteristics of a Dominican High School principal. Specifically, a Parent Input Session has been scheduled for February 15 at 7:00 p.m. in Siewert Hall. If you are unable to attend, please complete a feedback form which can be printed from our website or picked up at the main office.
I thank Eamonn on behalf of the Board of Directors, faculty, staff, parents and all the students that he has educated, guided and fostered. He has been an outstanding leader at Dominican and a valued partner to me. He will be missed.
Please join me in wishing Eamonn the very best and God’s blessings as he embarks on his new path.
Warm regards, Maureen Schuerman President
